Driver killed, passenger clinging to life after high-speed Queens crash

A driver was killed and his passenger was clinging to life after his speeding vehicle crashed into a guardrail in the middle of the roadway and then careened into a tree in Queens early Sunday, cops said.

The 20-year-old man was driving a 2007 Honda Accord “at a high rate of speed” northbound on the Clearview Expressway when he lost control and smashed into the center guardrail at 2:18 a.m. near exit 4, according to police.

“The vehicle then veered across all lanes of travel to the right shoulder where it struck a tree at the location,” cops said.

The driver was pronounced dead on the scene near 73rd Avenue, cops said.

His passenger, a man in his 20s, was rushed to New York Presbyterian Hospital with head and body trauma and is listed in critical condition, cops said.
