Dow Jones slips from record highs at the open

The S&P 500 and the Dow opened lower on Tuesday after closing at record highs in the previous session, as investors locked in some gains ahead of a reading of US job openings later in the day.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 47.2 points, or 0.14%, at the open to 33,479.93. The S&P 500 fell 2.84 points, or 0.07%, at the open to 4,075.07, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 5.26 points, or 0.03%, to 13,700.33 at the opening bell.
